Le Cygne.

Previously, I'd thought that movies that didn't make me cry weren't good movies. This obviously excludes action films and those that aren't supposed to make you feel anything. =D Well I guess I might have to revise my opinion a little, because I thought Jay Chou's Secret was quite a good movie even though it didn't make me cry at all. Haha.

Anyway the movie inspired me to go through my score cupboard... but all I found was a lousy kiddy version of Le Cygne that wasn't even called Le Cygne [sigh it was entitled The Swan]. Pah. Much unsatisfaction. Need to go get a copy from Esplanade library I guess. Or does anyone have a copy of the original version to lend me?? =D Heeeh.

Somebody hire me! I'm tired of slacking!

You Would Be a Pet Cat

Independent and aloof, you don't like to be dependent on anyone.
And as for other people, you can take them or leave them. You often don't care.
You live your life by your own rules. And you have deep motivations that no one truly understands.

Why you would make a great pet: You're not needy or greedy... unlike other four legged friends.

Why you would make a bad pet: You're not exactly running down to greet people at the door

What you would love about being a cat: Agility and freedom

What you would hate about being a cat: Being treated like a dog by clueless humans

*phew*

We were almost late for Lenoil's Grade 5 exam this afternoon, thanks to some weird stretches of heavy traffic on the way to Parkway. The examiner emerged from the room just as we arrived; if he'd poked his head out earlier we'd have been disqualified. He hurried us into the room, but when we were inside he told us to take our time and begin whenever we were ready. Haha. Seemed a nice enough guy. Just a bit hurried though. Anyway I managed to play through the 2 pieces without making mistakes [thank goodness] haha. It was quite a good exam I guess. Hope Lenoil gets Distinction! And don't worry Jolie, I'm sure you did ok =D Don't worry! Eat more ice-cream and yummy food =D

Oh yar, Happy Birthday Lenoil =D

Facebook is nice! =]

I miss my pet slug [you know who you are]...

e-m-o

voids, holes and emptiness. been trying to do some things and have fun without you. was quite enjoyable. but am i happy? i guess you know the answer.

decided that if people were to be condescending because they've lived/studied/worked in a foreign country and thus spoke a foreign language well i'm not going to be bothered. it's their problem if they want to be condescending. if you're going to do the same thing, i've got nothing to say. .

i know they lied to me about uncle roger. am quite sure of it. they lie, their kids lie. who can i believe? hardly anyone else other than jh knows about this uncle roger episode. shrug. is it any wonder why i find it so hard to trust anyone. i don't even trust my own knowledge sometimes.

the urge to get away is stronger now than ever.

Convocation

was over in less than 2 hours. Seemed extremely short. All in all an almost surreal experience. Hmmm... they didn't even introduce the VIPs properly. And everything was very fast. Mostly name-reading. Feels like it was over before I had an idea of what was happening. David Lane gave a speech tho. He has big tummy. Haha. The president [of the republic] was there during the morning session i think. sniff.

Thanks everyone who took photos with me who looks eew in photos hahaha =P

Oh yar i forgot to add that Prof Bose hugged me! Hahahahaaaa

Kent Ridge is a zoo

For some reason [that jh can't comprehend], I find arapaima interesting. Not just because they're the world's largest freshwater fish. Or that they have interesting breeding habits. Or that they're an endangered species. Hmmm... perhaps a combination of those reasons, and more besides. Haha. Fascinating creatures. And today I discovered that there's one in TLL. Haha... Madness. The fish in TLL are amusing. They're quite emo... Think the most emo of them all is the deformed [double-hunchbacked] arowana in one of the labs. It looked downright depressed and grumpy, though it has reason to be so. Such a poor thing...

Hooting owls, playful squirrels, congregating snails, bold slugs, suspicious cats, cacophonic crickets, daring snakes, emo fishes [including lungfish], and now a lurking arapaima... much wild [and ex-wild] life on Kent Ridge. *loves*

Sir Prof Paul Nurse is good-looking! And great fun, apparently. His public lecture ("Milton and Darwin: Two Views of Creation") this afternoon was so entertaining. Haha. And he snubbed someone during the Q&A. Amusing lah. I must say that person deserved it, though. Haha. Well, this lecture came at a nice time and reminded me of what I used to think about when I had the time to spare [mostly during JC, cos brain was corrupted enough by then]. About halfway through the talk I found that I was smiling.. Haha. And I felt happy for some weird reason. Sigh I miss my brain.. Now I kinda feel inspired to go reread Milton...

Need someone to think challenging thoughts and quirky ideas with me...
Dah.

Sentient.

I hate menopausal people. They have no right to make my life miserable. I ignore them, even if they're talking to me directly, I ignore them very obviously. I hate stupid people too. [stupid = no commonsense, idiotic, irritating, the works] Can't they just leave me alone. Go. Away. But at least with these people around there's some basis for comparison.

Perhaps they should teach in school that the more you harp about something that other people will give you of their own accord, the less likely you're ever going to get it. Such an easy thing, but seems like few people have the self-control not to blurt everything out and make themselves look like total idiots. Not to mention totally irritating as well. The more they say it, the less likely they're going to get it. So there. And they can invoke all the ancient traditions of the Bigoted Race and say whatever they want. I decide. So there.

Perhaps they should also teach in school that laughing in an extremely fake way after every sentence you utter is also a very irritating practice. Similar to speaking in a fake high voice to members of the opposite sex [this applies to females, of course]. Does this obvious faking of heightened sexual activationexcitementstatething fool the males? It's really hard to say, and depends a lot on the calibre of the male specimen.

Perhaps they should impart during job trainings the radical idea that authority is not proportional to age. Much less to say directly proportional. There are so many pathetic people with authority problems everywhere nowadays that it's becoming a hazard of the working world. But there isn't much hope that these people [mainly Asians, which I'm usually quite ashamed to be classified under] will ever change for the better and think out of the box, we can only hope that they become extinct soon. The sooner the better.

Perhaps I should just disappear.
The sooner and the further I get away the better.

Meet Squeaky

the Razer Plasma Blue Diamondback Mouse =P
Squeaky does a mean click click and shines with a blue light that rivals the Scrin's hahaha. Squeaky is a present from nice jh to jx. Nice jh =) heh. Squeaky likes RPGs, but Squeaky can't wait to try RTS games too. Most importantly, Squeaky wants to see who's bluer, Squeaky or Scrin or special Tiberium. So Squeaky is going to steal C&C3 from jh soon. In the meantime Squeaky will help Thélithil level up to catch up with Vindyamiriel, who has such a long name and is 2 levels ahead of Thel. Pah.

PLAY!

hmmm went for the PLAY! concert just now with Oliver and LipHua. when they asked me to go i had only a vague idea of what the concert was about, but was too lazy to go check it up, so i decided to let myself be surprised at the performance. haha. it turned out to be a video game music concert. =] the SFO was not bad; it was fun to see quite a number of familiar faces onstage heh. only thing was i don't like / don't agree with the director of the orchestra. everything else (players, conductor etc) was fine =)

here's a list of what they played:
PLAY! A Video Game Symphony Fanfare
+ music from...
Super Mario Bros
Shenmue and Shenmue II (Sedge Tree)
Lost Odyssey
Sonic the Hedgehog
Metal Gear Solid
Blue Dragon
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy VI (Dancing Mad)
Daytona USA
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross
World of Warcraft
HALO
Castlevania
The Legend of Zelda
Final Fantasy VII (One-Winged Angel)

so exciting. well, the audience contained quite a number of otakus. but it was good that they left their consoles and visited the concert hall =P hmmm it was a fun concert, especially with the screens displaying scenes from the games. bleah. i must say, though, that it's more fun to listen to a game music concert if you've played the game before, and have some idea of what the music sounds like. otherwise it'll just be like listening to any other concert of foreign-sounding music. heh heh.
