Overheard in lecture...
A: What does negate mean?
B: [pause] Er... erm... regulate?
[context: "DNA viruses negate tumour suppressors"]
The point of this is the word -negate-, because terms like -DNA viruses- and -tumour suppressors- are already familiar to year 3 students. So it is only the level of English in question. But jh says -negate- is a difficult word. So I guess I'm the abnormal one.

People who are not supposed to be in my lab session but come and happily -book- comp terminals for their friends who show up late and it was especially irritating because they used 2 -things- to -book- 3 comps @#$% and they didn't say anything when I sat there [mostly because the comps they -booked- were @#$ in the row behind them] major source of irritation asdfghjkl

I think I know of a possible reason why zw doesn't seem to have a good impression of me (to the point of hostility/pointedly ignoring). I can't say for sure, but it might be because wz was her classmate in secondary school. If zw can be involved in -slandering- (read: gossip/spreading of untruths about) Amy here when Amy's half a world away, there's really no reason to say that there's no way zw could have known about/been on the receiving end of the same thing about me. Oh well. Just a little bit of speculation. But not at all far-fetched. Haha.

Why do people make friends? [by the way I do not believe in having to -Try- to make friends by the way I cannot stand -fake- people] Because friends make good companions? Because friends are Useful? I cannot stand it when I see people -trying- to make friends. I cannot stand it when I can see their motives. Because there aren't supposed to be motives at all. Why can't people get their proirities right? Are friends friends because they're useful? Or are they friends first? And are friends supposed to be useful in the first place? Why do people expect so much from each other? What makes them think they have the right to expect anything from another? Well. Too many questions. Shrug.

It is quite disturbing to witness someone's mid-life crisis. But people around me are quite oblivious to it. Or, they don't seemed concerned at all. Still, it is not my place to voice my opinions on this, or even to inquire. Because, as my mother said to me today, 大人的事小孩子不要管. Er... I am young. Whee...

People are so scary. Hmmm no. I mean, people are mostly tiresome and sometimes irritating. [if you compare across the whole population. and remember I'm a snob] And hard to handle. Doesn't help that I know what they're after; it just puts me off even more. Sigh.

I didn't get full marks for my Japanese mid-term test. Because I wrote くたもの instead of くだもの. And I can't believe I didn't see the mistake even though I checked. Death penalty.
